The Day After ZZZZzzzzzz

Last night I wasted a couple of hours of my precious life for the common good: do not bother going to watch Roland Emmerich’s “The Day After Tomorrow”. OK, most sensible people wouldn’t expect anything from the man who brought us Independence Day and the awful Godzilla. In fact, this new effort is a remix of those films (New York hit by a shockwave/tidal wave, people running in the streets…), but with weather effects instead of aliens or lizards. It’s long and pointless with a fairly incoherent plot and shallow characters who thankfully disappear with virtually no explanation. Check out Wired’s review.

[Update] I forgot to mention the Japan based section, allegedly in the ‘Chiyoda District’ of Tokyo – it was so bad it was funny – looked more like the Tokyo set from ‘Austin Powers:Goldmember’. ironically, most of the scenes from the posters, including Tokyo Tower didn’t seem to make it into the film…or maybe I had fallen asleep.
